Steve Dennis

Steve and RebeccaAt the age of 16, while away on a young people’s holiday, I realised that I’d spent many years pretending to be a Christian, that my “faith” was just an outward show that made no difference to the way I lived my life from one weekend to the next. On realising this, I asked for forgiveness for such pretence, and help to be able to trust in Christ and live my faith in a way that would change my life on the inside and rather than just outward appearances.

After training to be a Mechanical Engineer, I worked as a design engineer for 6 years, making “gadgets for mad professors”. Then in the summer of 2007 I left engineering to train for full time ministry at Hook Evangelical Church, where I worked alongside the staff and completed the FIEC Prepared For Service course.

In 2003 I married Rebecca (it’s an easy year to remember, it was when England won the rugby world cup). Before moving to LABC Bec worked for Tearfund for many years, and is currently working in a local school and as a freelance editor.

Then in September 2009 I joined the team here at LABC, to work as an Assistant Pastor.

My passions in life include going to the local greasy spoon, chocolate digestives, cycling, fishing, but, most of all, I long to see children and adults reading God’s word and faithfully applying it to their lives.
