Karen’s Testimony

Becoming a mum turned my reasonably organised life upside down! I had really enjoyed my job as a marketing PA and to think that I’d be looking after a baby seemed scary. At times, especially those first few weeks, it seemed to be the most impossible and exhausting job.
I know everyone says they didn’t have a clue – but I really didn’t. I didn’t know how to hold him – let alone pass him round!
The job of being a mum is demanding but fulfilling. Its amazing to see God’s creation and design as you hold your new born baby and its so refreshing to see the wonder of the world through a child’s eyes as they chase their shadow or splash in puddles.
But although children can be wonderful we still get fed up, worn out and feel something is missing. We try to find satisfaction in everything from work, family, shopping – but behind our smiles there is often hurt, regret and it seems nothing is working out the way we expected.
Is there an alternative to going shopping to cheer ourselves up?
God promises real joy and pretending to be happy is not much of an option when you could experience the real thing. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” John 10:10
I became a Christian when I realised I was a sinner and understood that Christ really did die on the cross for my sins and rose again.
“ God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4: 8-10
This means that I can trust a God who loves me and has a plan for me. He is my Father, who never gets weary and loves us more than we can ever imagine.
“For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you” Isaiah 41:13
